Leeds United were unlucky not to take something from The Emirates on Saturday, but Daniel Farke’s side put in a very positive performance, and Ray Parlour has made a prediction.

Leeds went into the game unbeaten in the Premier League, winning twice and drawing three times. They faced an Arsenal side that has been affected by injury, and had last lost 3-0 to Pascal Struijk’s Brighton.

Arsenal were favourites, but Leeds performed admirably. James Justin gave Leeds the lead, but Arsenal managed to turn it around. Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes got the goals for the Gunners.

Everyone connected with Arsenal will know that they got away with one on Saturday. The Arsenal fans, players and even Mikel Arteta will be relieved that the Gunners managed to come from behind to win.

But it is a sign of how far Leeds have come. In the same fixture last season, Leeds were brushed aside with ease; Arsenal won 5-0. Speaking on Premier League Productions, Parlour made a Leeds prediction.

The Arsenal legend was impressed, predicting a top-10 finish: “Just see the Leeds fans, they knew the effort they put in. It’s a long journey from Leeds to London; they know their team had a real go today.

“That’s what the supporters want to see. Don’t park the bus; they had a real go. They had the better chances. They’ll be saying, if we play like that every week, they’ll certainly be in the top half of the table.”

Leeds can be really proud of their performance. It might have been a defeat, but the momentum has continued after the international break despite the absences of Joe Rodon and Dan James on Saturday.

England international Justin spoke of last season’s 5-0 loss, and how today’s performance was proof that the Whites can go on and have a properly good campaign if they can maintain their form and standards.

“We’re disappointed. But in the grand scheme of things, that’s a good thing. Last season, we came here, and we were nowhere near the level. We showed how far we’ve come. There are a lot of positives to take.”

Leeds have four more games to play until the next international break, facing a poor Man United side at Elland Road next Sunday. They face Sunderland and Bournemouth away, before playing host to Spurs.
