Real Madrid v Villarreal: Confirmed line-ups as Vinicius left on bench

Real Madrid will look to get back to winning ways as they host Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid have had three weeks to stew on their derby defeat to Atletico Madrid before the international break, and can ill-afford any further slip-ups if they are to have any chance of challenging Barcelona for the LaLiga title.

Villarreal, meanwhile, have the chance to move into the top six with a shock win.

101GreatGoals has the team news.

Jose Mourinho makes four changes from the XI that started the 2-1 loss to Atletico, the headline being Vinicius Junior dropping to the bench. Yan Diomande takes his place on the left wing.

The suspended Dean Huijsen is replaced by Antonio Rudiger, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras come in for Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella at the two full-back spots.

Real Madrid: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Rudiger, Carreras; Tchouameni, Valverde; Guler, Bellingham, Diomande; Mbappe.

Real Madrid substitutes: Lunin, Mestre, Camavinga, Vinicius, Endrick, Cucurella, Espi, Bernardo Silva, Diaz, Dumfries, Thiago.

Villarreal: Gulcasi; Freeman, Navarro, Foyth, Veiga, Cardona; Comesana, Gueye, Moleiro; Perez, Akhomach.

Villarreal substitutes: Costa, Diatta, El Jmili, Gaitan, Luiz Junior, Macia, Mikautadze, Moreno, Mourino, Oluwaseyi, Romero, Saliba.

Real Madrid versus Villarreal kicks off at 8pm BST on Saturday October 10, at the Santiago Bernabéu.

In the UK, it will be shown on Disney+. In Spain, the game is live on Movistar LaLiga and Orange TV.
