Ridge Meadows Burrards win at U19 national championship

Two Ridge Meadows Burrards lacrosse players were part of Team B.C.’s gold medal victory at the U-19 field lacrosse national championships on Sept. 3-6 in Langley.

Cole Samson and Cameron Downey were part of the team that beat Team Alberta 14-7 in the gold medal game, to win the First Nations Cup.

Canada went a perfect 5-0 through the tournament, with earlier wins over Manitoba 22-2, Quebec 21-1, Ontario 22-7, and Alberta in round-robin play by another blowout score of 15-2.

Samson, a midfielder, scored four goals and added two assists in the five games of the tournament. He will play Division 1 lacrosse at Iona University, in New York State this year.
