Ronan O'Gara signs new contract after 'exceptional' and 'difficult' times

Ronan O'Gara has ended speculation linking him with Leinster by signing a new contract to remain as head coach of La Rochelle until 2031.
The Munster legend had been mentioned as a potential successor to Leo Cullen, who will step down as Leinster head coach at the end of the season.
"My family and I are very happy and proud to continue this adventure with Stade Rochelais," O'Gara told the club website.
"We have lived through exceptional times and gone through more difficult times together. In each of them, I felt the confidence of the Club and the support of our supporters.
"I believe deeply in this Club, in its players, in its staff and in its ambition.
"We have already built a lot of things, but I am convinced that the best is still ahead of us. I want to continue to grow this team and win with Stade Rochelais."
Aside from a two-year stint with New Zealand outfit the Crusaders, O'Gara has spent his entire coaching career in France since hanging up his boots in 2013.
O'Gara started as a defence coach at Racing 92 before he was appointed head coach of La Rochelle in 2019.
The Corkman guided La Rochelle to Champions Cup glory in 2022 and 2023, twice beating Leinster in the final.
O'Gara is still chasing Top 14 success with La Rochelle, though, with the French outfit opening this season with two victories over Toulouse and Toulon.
