Royals’ Jensen honored as AL’s best for standout week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City native Carter Jensen became the second member of the Royals this season to be named AL Player of the Week.
Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Jensen’s 8-for-19 week with seven extra-base hits and 6 RBI helped him win AL Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, 2026.
Jensen led the AL in slugging percentage, OPS, extra-base hits and total bases for the week. His week included a multi-homer game Wednesday night against the Miami Marlins.
A night later, Jensen came up a single shy of the cycle in a 7-3 win over Miami. His home run on Thursday night was his 22nd of his rookie season, tying Hall of Famer Carlos Beltran and Royals Hall of Famer Bo Jackson for the second most in franchise history as a rookie.
Jensen became the first Royal since Vinnie Pasquantino in August 2022 to win AL Player of the Week as a rookie. Earlier this year, Bobby Witt Jr. won the award in May.
The award for Jensen also comes just days after his teammates Jac Caglianone and Noah Cameron were named AL Pitcher and Player of the Month for July.
San Francisco Giants first baseman Rafael Devers was named the NL Player of the Week.
