Ruben Amorim may not have tasted defeat in Italy but his issues from Manchester United still exist.

On Saturday, Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan drew 2-2 with Lazio in Serie A, leaving his side fifth in the league standings after four games played.

United have moved on from Amorim thanks to Michael Carrick, and truthfully, Amorim has moved on from United. Yet it is hard to not track his results in Italy and draw similarities.

Amorim is repeating some mistakes in Milan, but his results have been much better than what he endured in Manchester.

Let us know your predictions! Man Utd face AC Milan in pre-season 👀

At United, Amorim struggled massively for consistency. His United side could beat anyone on their day, but were incapable of stringing together positive results.

One glaring issue was that Amorim’s United would change after half-time. The first 45 minutes would be great, but players would switch off after the break. Or vice-versa.

All of United’s hard work ended up being undone by moments of madness and chaos.

It seems Amorim is suffering from the same problem at AC Milan.

Milan found themselves 2-0 down at half-time against Lazio before coming back in the second 45 minutes.

As quoted by SempreMilan, Amorim said: “We managed to bring home a point, but if you look at the game, we have to do better, because you can’t play just one half.”

Are City dramatically over spending or will their midfield investments prove their worth? Do United still have the better options? Have YOUR say!

As Amorim says: “you can’t play just one half”, and that was a persistent issue at United too. Last season, United failed to win a single second half of football in their opening 10 games under Amorim.

A lack of consistency haunted Amorim at United, and it has followed him to Milan.

The likely cause is Amorim’s structure and philosophy, which was often carved open in the Premier League and caused United to concede far too frequently.

That same 3-4-2-1 shape is being used by Amorim at Milan. As it seems, to similar effect.
