Ruben Ramirez, Men's Soccer

Cosumnes River College men's soccer defender Ruben Ramirez has been named the Hawk of the Week following his standout performance in the Hawks' 4-1 victory over American River College on Friday. After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Ramirez sparked Cosumnes River's four-goal second-half outburst, scoring twice in just 1:44 to turn the match in the Hawks' favor. He scored his first goal of the season in the 49th minute off an assist from Angel Castillo before finding the back of the net again at 49:56 on an unassisted strike to give Cosumnes River a 2-1 lead. The two goals marked the first of the season for Ramirez and provided the momentum the Hawks needed to open Big 8 Conference play with a victory. Cosumnes River improved to 3-1-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
