Ryan Garcia Tweeted Just 1 Word After Brutally Knocking Out Conor Benn

Garcia said all he needed to say in just one word.
Ryan Garcia Tweeted Just 1 Word After Brutally Knocking Out Conor Benn

Jack is a trainee writer at GIVEMESPORT, having recently completed his first year of the Sports Journalism course at the University of Lancashire.

Prior to GIVEMESPORT, Jack provided articles for several websites, covering many topics including MMA, football, and lifestyle.

Alongside this, Jack also provides commentary and occasional interviews for the National League side Altrincham FC.

While still in the infancy of his journalism journey, Jack is keen to consistently grow and cover even more sports.

The highly anticipated clash between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn finished in a way many expected, with the American making easy work of the challenger and ultimately retaining his WBC welterweight strap via second-round knockout.

Heading into the fight, there was plenty of talk, especially as there were so many unknowns surrounding Benn. He took quite a peculiar journey to get to this stage of fighting for a world title, and it seems like the opportunity may have come too soon.

Nonetheless, Garcia once again impressed. He's now won two fights this year, which was much needed after the defeat to Rolando Romero. In addition, his confidence and swagger certainly haven't faded; after getting his hand raised, he almost immediately took to social media.

Benn's stock has been on the rise recently. Ever since he suffered the defeat to Chris Eubank Jr first time around, he got his revenge, while also becoming somewhat of a star in the process.

He backed it up with a win over Regis Prograis, while also headlining at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a third consecutive time.

The Garcia bout was the big test against top-level opposition, however, and also out of his comfort zone in America. Ultimately, the trials and tribulations were too much for the Brit, as the referee brought a stop to the contest in round two.

The champion was picking his shots beautifully on the outside, winning round one along the way. In the second, he continued to land, before a big right hand dropped Benn.

The Brit was soon back on his feet, but Garcia sensed the finish; he began to tee off on his opponent. Eventually, the barrage of shots totalled up, and the referee was forced to step in.

A dominant victory for the 28-year-old, who made it look like a complete mismatch. He soon took to social media after the finish, with his one word epitomising a strong performance:

When asked if he is now the face of boxing, Garcia agreed: "You have to say so, you gotta respect it. I'm gonna hold that as high as I can, and always try to be the best champion, and the best face of boxing that I can possibly be."

As for Benn, it's back to the drawing board. He was sent to hospital immediately after the defeat, so he will more than likely need to take some time off and fully recover before returning to the ring.

It will also be interesting to see who he faces next, and at what weight class. He, of course, made the well-documented switch from Matchroom to Zuffa Boxing, and was seen as one of the promotion's biggest names.

There's no shame in losing to a superstar like Garcia, but it does leave him with plenty of questions to answer.
