Mike Tyson did not hesitate when delivering his prediction for this weekend’s fight between Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia.

On Saturday, British fighter Benn will take on American boxer Garcia for the WBC welterweight title inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Garcia, 28, is looking to defend his title for the first time, having won the belt back in February by beating Mario Barrios via unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Benn is bidding to win the same belt his father, Nigel, won in the 1990s.

The London-born boxer currently holds a record of 25-1, with his last fight held back in April, when he beat Regis Prograis via unanimous decision.

Ahead of the much-anticipated bout between Benn and Garcia, boxing legend Tyson was asked to give his prediction.

Speaking to FightHype TV, Tyson did not stutter as he named his winner. The 60-year-old, who was the undisputed heavyweight world champion from 1987 to 1990, predicted that Garcia would win.

Tyson stated that Benn is ‘getting better’, but is intrigued to see whether Garcia could be able to knock the Brit out.

He said: “Ryan (Garcia). We’ll see [if Garcia can knock him out]. Conor’s (Benn) getting better.”

Speaking to ESPN ahead of the fight, Garcia vowed to end the fight within five rounds, saying: “I’m here to make a statement.

“I’ve not been shy about that. I’ve said five rounds and below. That means I’m coming with mean intentions, and I’m not here to dance my way to a decision, but I’m also not here to be stupid, at the end of the day. But would it be amazing? Yes.”

Having previously fought in light middleweight and middleweight, most notably for his high-profile fights against Chris Eubank Jr, Benn admitted that trimming his weight down for the Garcia bout had been ‘brutal.’

Speaking recently to Ring Magazine, Benn expressed his desire to move back up in weight.

The 29-year-old said: “Yeah, it’s hard. It’s brutal. This is my last fight at 147. When I win the world title, I’ll move on.

“But for me, I haven’t made 147 for four years. So, it’s challenging. It’s really hard. You think I went up to 183 [fight night weight] for the Eubank fights, you know, so it’s hard, but we’re getting it done.”
