Salahdine Parnasse crashes lightweight top ten, Dan Hooker drops to unlucky 13 in latest UFC media rankings

Salahdine Parnasse had one of the best UFC debuts possible, and now he’s been rewarded in the media rankings with a debut in the lightweight Top 10.

Parnasse went from organizational outside to headlining the UFC’s Paris card this weekend, TKOing No. 12 ranked Dan Hooker in the first round (highlights here). That was enough for media panel voters to leapfrog him into the lightweight top ten. How will the ’mathematical’ Meta rankings see the value in his win over Hooker? We’ll have to wait until they’re updated sometime later this week.

Other notable changes to the Media Panel rankings: Rafael Fiziev moved up two spots to No. 10 in the lightweight rankings, while Dan Hooker slipped down three spots to No. 13. In the middleweight division, Abus Magomedov moved up 2 spots to No. 12, and Shara Magomedov is now listed at No. 15.

As noted earlier, Michael “Venom” Page was formally removed from the voting sheet for media members following the final fight of his UFC contract in Paris. He was previously ranked at No. 8. And although it was announced that Valentina Shevchenko has vacated her women’s flyweight belt, she’s still listed in the rankings as champion, which we assume will remain the case until Natalia Silva and Wang Cong fight for the belt in October.
