Scott Morrow hopes offseason training enough to make Rangers’ roster after underwhelming NHL stint

Scott Morrow chose to spend most of his offseason at MSG Training Center rather than training at an outside facility such as Prentiss Hockey Performance in his hometown of Stamford, Conn., where NHLers work out in groups.

The choice felt intentional in the aftermath of an underwhelming first season within the Rangers organization.

Morrow was capped at 29 NHL games, which came in bunches as the 23-year-old defenseman fluctuated in and out of the lineup, and up and down from AHL Hartford. He ultimately spent the majority of the 2025-26 campaign with the Wolf Pack, playing in the top four and finishing with the third-most points among the team’s defensemen (19).

During his NHL opportunities, however, there were times when he was seriously exposed as a defensive liability in the Rangers end.
