Sean Strickland recently signed new long-term UFC deal with pay reported following calls for exit

A new report has provided more information on the current status of Sean Strickland’s UFC deal.

Earlier this week, Strickland said that he is “kinda over” the UFC after seemingly being in a pay dispute with the promotion.

The middleweight champion spoke about whether competing in MMA is worth it for him due to how much money he makes and the damage it does to his body.

Strickland may be set on wanting to go and box instead, but new information on where he stands with the UFC makes this highly unlikely.

Reports suggest the UFC are offering him $400k show and $400k win, while he wants more.

Earlier this month, Sean Strickland confirmed that he’s not fighting at UFC 335 due to the money that he was offered.

The controversial American has gone on to name fighters like Khamzat Chimaev, who he beat earlier this year to become champion, and how much more they were earning.

Unfortunately for Strickland, his talk about potentially fighting out his deal will be a lot harder to make a reality due to a decision he reportedly made before that fight.

MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn revealed on his channel that after reaching out to some sources, he found out that the middleweight champion signed a new six-fight deal with the UFC before challenging for the belt in UFC 328.

Bohn also explained that usually when an athlete re-signs before a title fight, they’re given a breakdown of how much they’ll make for that bout, for their first title defense, etc.

He added that the original post that started this conversation, which claimed that Strickland earns $400,000 to fight and $400,000 to win, is false.

Bohn said that according to his sources, the champion is making more than a million dollars per fight and received this for his clash with Chimaev.

Strickland may have received an offer from Jake Paul, but with a whole new contract to get through, it seems highly unlikely that he’ll be competing anywhere else for quite some time.
