Sean Strickland warned that dispute with UFC ‘never works out’ despite him having some advantages

Brendan Schaub believes that Sean Strickland is in a better position than others who raise issues.
Strickland made it clear that he was having money issues with the UFC, saying that this is why he isn’t defending his title before the end of the year.
This seemed like a situation that could be solved until Strickland started talking about leaving the promotion and his heart no longer being in it.
Whether he changes his mind or not, there isn’t exactly a great track record of fighters getting what they want when butting heads with the UFC.
Reports suggest the UFC are offering him $400k show and $400k win, while he wants more.
Paulo Costa extended a hand towards Sean Strickland due to both men being vocal about their pay-related UFC frustrations in recent times.
The current middleweight champion has issued a series of posts saying that he might fight out of his contract so he can go and compete in boxing, which will be easier on his body and allow him to make more money.
Costa has also spoken about wanting to part ways with the UFC, but he doesn’t have much bargaining power despite being a very established name.
Former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub pointed out when discussing Strickland’s recent statements that taking this stance with the promotion “never works out”.
That being said, he thinks that the American star does have a few things that could work in his favor.
“The difference with Sean Strickland is he’s a champ,” Schaub said on the Big Brown Breakdown. “Current champ. It’s very rare. I can’t remember the last time we’ve had a current champ, it’s very, very rare that they speak out and complain about fighter pay…
“The other thing is never has it been more evident of what other people are making,” he continued. “You’re getting word of what other people are making where before it was done by design where the UFC made sure no fighters really knew what anybody was making.”
It’s not surprising that any UFC champion would question why they aren’t making as much as others.
For Sean Strickland, it appears that his recent disputes are largely motivated by how tough MMA training has been on his body in recent times.
The middleweight titleholder listed a groin tear and AC joint separation when writing, “I’m just frustrated because my body is crashing” on X.
