Thomas Müller was rumored to miss this match but instead he will start. Leon Goretzka will get the nod over Aleksandar Pavlović at the number eight position, while Konrad Laimer and Raphaël Guerreiro will man the outside-back spots. Leroy Sané and Michael Olise will feature together again on the wings.

The last time Bayern Munich and Shakhtar Donetsk played each other in the 2014/15 Champions League, Thomas Müller scored a braced and Bayern won 7-0. With an injury-ravaged squad, Bayern will rely on its incredible depth to get the job done.

Prediction: Bayern wins 3-1. Jamal Musiala dribbles through the entire defense in the 15th minute, flicks the ball up and heads it in. Right before halftime, Shakhtar equalizes on their only shot of the match. On a corner kick in the 63rd minute, Dayot Upamecano’s header is blocked but Aleksandar Pavlović pokes it in. In stoppage time, Shakhtar gets caught pressing high and Joshua Kimmich puts a ball over the top to Arijon Ibrahimović, who dribbles around the keeper.
