Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney Are Near to Fight

Negotiations to a confrontation between invincible champions of multiple divisions record significant advances.

According to a report published by the specialized portal BoxingScene, Shakur Stevenson's representation and Devin Haney's team are holding advanced talks to agree on a plea in the wélter weight category.

The path to these talks was reopened after the organization of a plea between Shakur Stevenson and Manny Pacquiao for the December 11 poster in Cardiff, Wales was ruled out.

According to industry sources quoted by BoxingScene, the financial feasibility of covering the fees of two star-wage fighters at the co-star event of a Netflix broadcast resulted in the search for alternatives for both boxers.

For his part, Devin Haney, World Boxing Organization (WBO) weight-weight monarch,ined a glimpse focused on a pre-cross against Liam Paro or a presentation scheduled for November 28 in Atlanta. However, the opening of talks with the American environment changed the immediate planning of the 27-year-old fighter.

Along with the current negotiations, prosecutor Zuffa Boxing assessed other possible contenders for the New Jersey fighter in lower categories. Among the options examined was a contact with Gary Antuanne Russell on the 140 pounds, an alternative that did not come to fruition after the economic proposal presented by the organizers was considered insufficient.

In this context, the concrete confrontation with Haney would mark Shakur Stevenson’s official debut under the structure of Zuffa Boxing. The unbeaten boxer arrives at this stage after achieving the OMB’s 140-pound band on January 31 before Teófimo López, seeking now to project toward the immediate upper division.

Discrepancies in Weight Conditions and Contract Clauses

The main aspect in discussion within the negotiation lies in the weight limit that will govern the weighing ceremony. Devin Haney requested that the dispute be carried out within the official limit of the £147 division and without the inclusion of rehydration clauses in the dispute contract.

For his part, Shakur Stevenson is holding the stance of agreeing a pacted weight of 144 pounds to level the physical conditions with the OMB monarch. This difference in contractual stipulations constitutes the point at which both representations work to a definitive drafting.

The Newark fighter’s stance was publicly expressed through his official communication channels. In messages spread on the social network X and collected by BoxingScene, the athlete urged to resolve the contractual differences outside the digital sphere to make the contract of the fight official.

In one of her posts on the platform, Shakur Stevenson said: “Let’s put online negotiations aside. Let’s show the world what we’re made of and organize the biggest and best fight in boxing.” The statements from both sides reflect the intention to close the final terms in the coming days.
