‘Slow down’ – Damian Lillard’s attempt to recruit George Pickens to recruit blocked by former Dallas Cowboys star

NBA star Damian Lillard has suggested the Las Vegas Raiders to pursue All-Pro wide receiver George Pickens after their recent loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite their resilient performance, the Raiders lost 30-27 against the Chiefs and slipped to their first defeat of the season. The likes of Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty played brilliantly for the Raiders, but in the end, Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker III powered the Chiefs to take their fourth win of the season.

Despite the defeat, chatter around the Raiders has been positive for the first time in a few years. To help the team out, Lillard, a fan of the team, asked the franchise to try to add George Pickens to their roster.

Pickens is one of the most important weapons in the Cowboys’ offence. He did not have a major role in the win against the Houston Texans, but in just two receptions, Pickens recorded 75 receiving yards, which included a stunning 53-yard reception.

Last season, he made the All-Pro team for the first time after recording 93 receptions for 1,429 yards. Despite this, the Cowboys hesitated to give him a long-term extension. The 25-year-old signed a franchise tag with the team, and could be on his way out of Dallas next offseason.

This is what may have prompted Lillard’s request for a Pickens trade, but former Cowboys star Dez Bryant rejected the idea.

“Slow down now.. we are going to figure it out lol,” wrote Bryant on X.

Obviously, Bryant does not want a talent like Pickens to leave the Cowboys, which is why he objected to Lillard’s request. Moreover, there were fans in the comment section who were completely against the idea of losing the All-Pro WR.

Pickens has a great relationship with his fellow star WR CeeDee Lamb. Just before the start of the season, he had expressed his desire to play with Lamb for a long time, but that will require him to agree on a deal with the Cowboys when the offseason comes.

For now, he will be focused on helping the Cowboys end their 30-year Super Bowl drought. They will next face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the hope will be that they secure a win there to move up in the NFC East standings.
