Sunderland vs Arsenal Lineups Confirmed: Granit Xhaka Captains Black Cats Against Former Club As Lewis Skelly Starts For Gunners | Check All Names

Sunderland vs Arsenal Lineups Confirmed: A dramatic narrative takes center stage at the Stadium of Light as former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka leads Sunderland out wearing the captain’s armband against his former employers in Sunday’s eagerly anticipated Premier League showdown. Mikel Arteta has made bold selection choices of his own, handing starts to teenage academy sensation Myles Lewis Skelly and Greek winger Christos Tzolis alongside core attackers Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz. With an electric atmosphere brewing in the northeast, both clubs have revealed loaded starting lineups featuring marquee summer arrivals and formidable benches.

The biggest talking point of the team sheet belongs to Granit Xhaka, who captains Sunderland against the club where he spent seven memorable seasons. Black Cats manager has surrounded the Swiss midfield general with seasoned European quality, fielding former Paris Saint-Germain fullbacks Thomas Meunier and Nordi Mukiele alongside Kevin Danso and Dan Ballard in a physically imposing backline.

In midfield, Enzo Le Fee and Noah Sadiki provide energetic ball progression next to Xhaka, while Dutch powerhouse forward Brian Brobbey spearheads the attack flanked by Ecuadorian winger Nilson Angulo. Sunderland possess genuine game changers in reserve as well, with Chris Rigg, Wilson Isidor, and Datro Fofana available from the bench.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has showcased trust in squad rotation, awarding starting roles to academy product Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield and Greek international Christos Tzolis on the left wing. Captain Martin Odegaard orchestrates the attack alongside Declan Rice, while Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz retain their places in a dangerous forward line.

At the back, Ezri Konsa partners Gabriel Magalhaes in central defense, with Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori occupying the full-back slots ahead of goalkeeper David Raya. Perhaps most striking is Arsenal’s astonishing bench depth, which features Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Bruno Guimaraes, Martin Zubimendi, and Jurrien Timber.
