The 10 biggest crowds to watch South Yorkshire boxers

Dave Allen's appearance before 82,000 partisan Irish fans may have only lasted a mere 82 seconds.

It only took that long for Dublin's Thomas Carty to tumble through the ropes and land awkwardly on his back.

A no contest verdict was recorded by referee Emile Tiedt, although the Conisbrough heavyweight says he now wants that overturned and recorded as a victory.

"If that was in the middle of the ring, I’d have won by stoppage" he stated.

Overall, it is perhaps not a sporting moment that Allen will dine out on, later in life.

But the fact that he was centre stage, regardless of the fact that he was there for just over a minute, puts him in a unique position.

No other South Yorkshire fighter has ever performed in front of so many people.

Not by a long chalk - unless you know different!

We've listed some of the bumper attendances to have watched our South Yorkshire fighters in relatively recent times.

They include Kell Brook, who was a spectator at a Ryan Rhodes' show at Rotherham's Magna Centre last Saturday, and Naseem Hamed, who was present at the Croke Park event, crowned by Katie Taylor’s epic swansong.
