The Friedkin Group will undoubtedly want to get the best deal out of the Everton sale for themselves.

But they will also be seeking more than just money as they hand the reins over to the next owner.

The American ownership has not stuck around long, only being made official owners back in December 2024.

Their time at the club has been far from straightforward, with tempers flared following the recent summer window, with Harrison Armstrong's attempted sale the crux of supporters' fury.

However, there could be another factor affecting how they approach selling the Toffees other than their return on investment.

A secondary concern has emerged if the Americans get it all wrong with their sale.

Uncertainty over the ownership of the club you support is never ideal.

Concerns will be floating around about whether the next group of investors will take your team forward, rather than backwards.

Often, owners simply want to make a quick exit, but Everton fans may be in luck with the Friedkins.

As they will likely have more due diligence over their sale of the Toffees, at least according to finance expert Paul Quinn, known colloquially as The Esk.

Speaking on the High Performance Business podcast, Quinn shared that the Friedkin Group have more on the line than simply money in selling Everton.

He stated: "They can't get away with this scot-free. They run a massively successful large business in the US. Their reputation is one of being good, prudent, careful owners of businesses.

"And there is the chance that, given that the Premier League is so high profile, given that their acquisition of Everton was high profile, if they screw this up, they screw up at least part of their own business reputation.

"They will know that they have to do something about the situation that they find themselves in, in order to protect their reputation elsewhere."

Everton fans will take some solace in the fact that the Friedkins would have to be extra careful in their handling of the sale.

In business, reputation is priceless, and the Friedkin Group will not want to undo their years of trust and credibility by one singular high-profile decision.

While the Friedkins are likely to have more due diligence, it is also important for the Americans to agree to a sale as quickly as possible.

In L3, there are already plenty of moving parts that the next regime of Everton owners will have to make decisions on.

Although still a season away, next summer's transfer window will be extremely important for Everton's ambitions.

They will want to look to push on and make the squad more equipped for regular.

Furthermore, with David Moyes' contract expiring in June 2027, the decision to keep him on should be made by the new owners, rather than forcing the Friedkins into making a choice over the manager's future.
