The Fernández-Haaland Duo Generates Expectations at Manchester City

Manchester City opened their European campaign with a 2-0 victory against Porto, in a match that brought more than just three points, the emergence of a duo that promises to make waves. Enzo Fernández, a recent addition from Chelsea, assisted Erling Haaland in the first goal of the match. The Norwegian, true to his style, completed a brace in the second half and reaffirmed his status as an unstoppable scorer.

Fernández, in just his second match as a starter, was excited about the connection: "Erling Haaland is a beast. He's a beast, so every time he's on the field, I'm going to look for him and I hope to give him many more assists." The Argentine also highlighted the reception from his teammates and the warmth of the fans in this new step of his career.

The Norwegian forward keeps breaking records in the Champions League. With the two goals against Porto, he reached 42 goals in 39 group stage and league matches since his debut in 2019-20, more than any other player in that period. Additionally, he matched Sergio Agüero as the City's top scorer in the competition, with 36 goals.

Fernández not only highlighted his goal-scoring ability but also his human side: "He's not just the player he is; he's also an incredible person, he welcomed me very well and helped me a lot." The chemistry between the two could become a key for Maresca's team.

Fernández's arrival seems to have fit perfectly into the citizen's locker room. "I am very happy that they welcomed me as soon as I walked through the door. They are not just brilliant players, they are also great people. The fans were also absolutely amazing, welcoming me in this new step of my career. I am very excited about what is coming," added the Argentine.
