Three Moreton Hall teams crowned Welsh lacrosse champions

Moreton Hall has started its lacrosse season in impressive fashion, with three teams crowned Welsh Rally champions and the first team recording 11 wins from 12 games across two tournaments in two days.
The first, second and Under-15 teams travelled to Cheltenham Ladies’ College on Saturday for the annual Welsh Rally Championships.
All three teams finished unbeaten, winning every game they played. The first and second teams successfully defended their titles, while the Under-15s reclaimed theirs.
The first team produced a particularly strong run, beating Godolphin 7-2, hosts Cheltenham Ladies’ College 10-0, St Mary’s Calne 7-2, Sherborne 13-0 and last year’s runners-up Marlborough 6-2.
The team then travelled south for Sunday's Berko 10s tournament at Berkhamsted School, giving Moreton the chance to face southern sides they would otherwise mainly encounter at the National Schools Championships.
After a defeat to St Catherine’s in their opening game, the team won each of their remaining six matches.
Among the results were a 9-3 victory over last season’s champions Lady Eleanor Holles and a 4-2 win against hosts Berkhamsted in their final match.
Carina Walsh, head of lacrosse, said: “Three teams, every game won, three titles. We are incredibly proud of all three squads crowned Welsh Rally Champions, and particularly proud of the stamina and resilience shown by the 1st squad across two tournaments in two days.
“That early loss at Berkhamsted was no bad thing, either. It switched us on and kept complacency at bay.”
Four Lower Fifth (Year 10) pupils were also praised for stepping up to play with the first team during the demanding weekend of back-to-back fixtures.
