Turki Alalshikh is Trying to Sell the Ring Magazine, Claims Oscar De La Hoya

There have been rumours floating around that Turki Alalshikh plans to sell a major chunk of The Ring Magazine. Its former owner, Oscar De La Hoya, isn’t very happy about the alleged decision and what has become of the once-prestigious magazine.

There have been rumours floating around that Turki Alalshikh plans to sell a major chunk of The Ring Magazine. Its former owner, Oscar De La Hoya, isn’t very happy about the alleged decision and what has become of the once-prestigious magazine.

As he sat down for the latest segment of Clap Back Thursday, De La Hoya shed light on the rumours and on the current state of the magazine.

“So, I’ve been collecting information for the last six weeks for the ultimate clap back. I’ve been listening and watching, and you won’t believe some of the sh*t I had to deal with, man. That’s on its way. But today I wanted to hop on to address the rumors that Turki is trying to sell The Ring Magazine, two years after he bought it from me,” he said.

Credible reports now say Alalshikh is selling a controlling interest in The Ring to DAZN. However, there is an important distinction: while multiple boxing journalists have reported the sale, neither DAZN, The Ring, nor Alalshikh has publicly confirmed the transaction as of today (October 3, 2026). Tris Dixon of Total Boxing first reported that a deal had been agreed, and Lance Pugmire later corroborated it. One report says the controlling stake and Ring championship belt have already been sold, while DAZN has declined to confirm or deny the reports.

This explains why De La Hoya is suddenly going nuclear on Alalshikh. Remember, Oscar sold The Ring to him in November 2024 for a reported $10 million. At the time, De La Hoya portrayed the sale very positively, saying Alalshikh loved boxing and would keep The Ring thriving. The latter promised to restore the magazine’s prestige and even revive the print edition to maintain editorial independence.

“It’s a dead asset. They stripped it of its credibility and made it purely bias and propaganda with Max Kellerman sucking it off every chance he gets. But it signals to the boxing world that Turki is finished with boxing, and he even said it himself that he’ll be stepping back after the Fury vs Joshua fight,” he said.

While he agrees that the current state of the magazine and the sport at large isn’t the most ideal, he is hopeful that whoever purchases it restores it to its past glory.

“I mean, thank God because boxing is more f*cked up than ever. It’s harder to make fights, the big names are idle, they don’t want to fight each other, not because they’re scared, because they’re waiting for that big payday. Anyhow, I hope whoever purchases The Ring Magazine next restores its integrity, the rules, the rankings, the honor and the history it used to stand for,” he said.
