Former middleweight UFC champion Dricus du Plessis tied the knot with his partner, Vasti Spiller, over the weekend in Cape Town.

The couple first crossed paths in 2023 at the CIT Boxing gym in Pretoria. At the time, Dricus was focused on his journey to become a UFC champion, while Vasti was running her photography business and completing her boxing coaching course.

On her first day at the studio, Vasti’s mentor, Vusi, told her he already knew who she would marry, though he didn’t tell her who. Six months later, the pair met for coffee, turning a simple outing into a five-hour conversation. On the same day, Dricus brought her home to meet his entire family. From that moment on, the two built a life together alongside their two dogs.

Vasti later announced their engagement on January 14 during Dricus’ birthday celebration, where he proposed in front of close friends and family.

At the time, Vasti shared a heartfelt note highlighting that she never expected to meet the love of her life when she first stepped foot into the CIT Boxing gym.

“I signed up to become a boxing coach in 2022 because my grandfather said the day we stop learning is the day we start dying. I did not think the day I walked into CIT Boxing, my life would change forever,” Vasti wrote.

“God knows when. God knows how. God loves you in every season. God is the reason I fell in love with a man who makes me want to live and not regret anything. Life is not always easy, but for moments like these ... well, every second is worth it. I can’t wait to marry you, Dricus du Plessis, and see what God has called us to do. Love you.”

Vasti has always been open about their relationship, frequently sharing moments with Dricus on social media to celebrate his victories, acknowledge their challenges, and showcase their deep bond.

In one post, she shared a photo taken a year earlier while Dricus was recovering from a fight. “There is so much to be grateful for,” Vasti posted. “Today I am grateful to love a man with the heart of a lion. Behind every fight is more than just a few minutes in the octagon — it’s months of sacrifice and discipline that no one sees.

After the wedding ceremony, she thanked her wedding preparation team for helping pull off what many are calling “the wedding of the year”.
