Walcott drills a grand slam home run

Bahamian minor leaguer Sebastian Walcott hit his first home run of the fall on Friday, helping the Surprise Saguaros roll to a fifth straight win in the 2026 Arizona Fall League (AFL).
Walcott, the Texas Rangers’ top prospect, and number eight on Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Top 100 Prospects List, is thriving through six games for the Saguaros this fall, looking to end the season strong and put himself in a favorable position going into 2027.
Walcott, 20, was slashing .292/.345/.500 with a home run, nine RBIs (runs batted in) and seven runs, in six games, going into the Saguaros’ game against the Mesa Solar Sox at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona, on Monday.
On Friday, the Bahamian slugger finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored, leading the Saguaros to an impressive 12-5 win over the Solar Sox. They scored nine of those 12 runs in the first inning, capped by Walcott’s towering grand slam home run.
With the bases loaded and five runs in, Walcott got a hold of a 90.1 miles per hour (mph) sinker and lifted it to left field, in his second at-bat, and with his second hit, of the inning. The home run shot traveled 397 feet with an exit velocity of 98mph and at a launch angle of 25 degrees.
“It was just about going up to the plate and not trying to do too much,” said Walcott to reporters. “I got a pitch to hit, and put a good swing on it. I wanted a pitch up, and I got it. I didn’t think it was a home run off the bat, so I hustled out of the box thinking it was going to go off the wall or something. I was just out there trying to have fun.”
Walcott’s shot cleared the bases, giving the Saguaros a 9-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning. They added two more runs in the third, and another one in the fourth.
Walcott singled, stole a base and scored in his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning, homered in his second at-bat that inning, grounded out in the third, reached on a fielding error in the bottom of the fourth, walked and stole a base in the bottom of the sixth, and struck out swinging in the bottom of the seventh. He started at shortstop and batted second.
“Right now, I’m just trying to finish strong and finish healthy. That’s the main goal right now,” he said.
The Saguaros went on to win on Saturday and were in action up to press time. They are tied for the top spot in the 2026 AFL Standings with an 8-3 win/loss record and are the defending champions.
Walcott has had a transitional year, moving from Double-A to Triple-A and on to the Arizona Fall League. Just the top prospects in the minor league system are invited to compete in the Arizona Fall League, and Walcott is experiencing that designation for a second year in a row.
After capping off a spectacular run with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, where he slashed .372/.426/.674 with four home runs and 16 hits in September, Walcott was officially promoted to the Round Rock Express in Triple-A Baseball. He played two games for the Express and had two hits in eight at-bats.
Walcott’s late-season surge followed an impressive return from offseason right elbow surgery, which initially threatened his entire season. He missed the first half of the 2026 regular season, and still ended up earning a promotion at the end of the season.
In total, for three teams in 2026, Walcott slashed .325/.401/.590 with 10 home runs, 21 RBIs and 48 runs scored. The 6’ 4” 190-pound infielder also had 13 stolen bases.
Walcott and the Saguaros continue 2026 AFL play with a game against the Glendale Desert Dogs today. That game is set for a 4:30pm start at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona. The 2026 AFL will run until November 14.
The Arizona Fall League is an offseason baseball league owned and operated by MLB. It operates during autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. The rosters are filled out by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB).
As for Walcott, the 20-year-old infielder is certainly on the rise.
Originally signed out of the Junior Baseball League of Nassau (JBLN) and the International Elite (I-Elite) Sports Academy during the 2023 international signing period, Walcott has quickly shot up the rankings, and is now a top prospect going into the 2027 season.
