What Becky Hammon has stopped A’ja Wilson from doing during her injury recovery

Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon gives an update on A’ja Wilson’s injury.
A’ja Wilson made headlines after announcing her decision not to play for Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
The Las Vegas star reportedly missed the tournament due to an injury. But what is her injury, and how is she recovering? Well, Aces head coach Becky Hammon finally answered those questions.
Hammon told USA Today about Wilson’s injury, sharing that the 4x WNBA MVP is dealing with a back injury.
“She’s needed some time, obviously. I still think she’s dealing with some back stuff. Some days it’s a little sorer than others,” Hammon said.
She added, “For the most part, I think she’s able to come out here and compete, and be there for her teammates, which is always her first priority. But I’m keeping an eye on her, you know? Even in this downtime.
It’s because the star center is in a rush to get back to action and help the Aces in any way she can. But Hammon needs to stop her from rushing back.
After all, an early return from a back injury could become something more serious later in the season and cost the Aces a shot at winning the WNBA Championship.
