Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott strongly pushed back against "false narratives" surrounding his split with ex-fiancee Sarah Jane Ramos after the former couple called off their wedding earlier this year.
Prescott, 33, was due to tie the knot with Ramos, 32, in Lake Como, Italy, in April, but things took a drastic turn just a month before after the latter reportedly discovered that the NFL star was using hidden social media profiles to message other women.
Ramos is said to have made the discovery following a disagreement with Prescott during their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties in the Bahamas, leading them to issue a joint email to wedding guests informing them of the "difficult decision" not to exchange vows.
Ramos broke her silence on the split in a March Instagram post, putting to rest the "rumor to rest" that their relationship ended over a prenuptial agreement, before securing an "11th-Hour" Custody Settlement with Prescott the following month.
Prescott and Ramos welcomed daughters Margaret Jane "MJ," 2, and Aurora, 1, before calling it quits, yet signed an informal temporary custody agreement right before their scheduled hearing on April 15 to narrowly avoid a public courtroom battle.
The ex-fiances then reunited in May for their youngest's 1st birthday party, before Prescott eventually broke his silence on the whole breakup last month, clarifying that the public narrative did not reflect reality.
"There were a lot of false narratives out there on both of our sides," the Cowboys star told Dallas Morning News, before going on to express how difficult the situation has been for everyone involved, especially the couple's two young daughters.
"It was an unfortunate situation for obviously everybody. More importantly, the kids. And so for me, it's just about making sure I'm there in every which way for them."
Shortly after, Prescott's two daughters were seen supporting their father at Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California, offering a poignant reminder of the personal circumstances surrounding his NFL offseason.
While the situation has clearly been difficult to navigate, Prescott remains focused on moving forward and being there for his children, stating, "I don't necessarily think it was public to me. Once again, I believe what you take in, what you read, what you look up, you're doing that to yourself."
Prescott was reportedly seen spending time with his ex-fiancée's bridesmaid at a PBR event in Texas in May, just two months after calling off his wedding, though the NFL quarterback has strongly denied that they were dating.
As for Ramos, she is said to have been "very happy" with the outcome of her and Prescott's "11th-Hour" Custody Settlement, with her lawyer telling Page Six in April that she "firmly believes that working together as parents is very important and will have long-term benefits for the girls."
Prescott's attorney called the agreement "a positive step forward [that] reflects the commitment Dak has to raising their daughters in a healthy, supportive environment."
