What happens off the field at the Australian-Croatian tournament

52nd Australian-Croatian Soccer Tournament: Melbourne gears up for a weekend of football, friendship and celebration
When the opening whistle blows for the 52nd Australian-Croatian Soccer Tournament in Melbourne, running from 24 to 27 September 2026, many eyes will be firmly fixed on the pitches.
Co-hosted this year by St Albans Dinamo and FC Strathmore Split, the event is a major sporting showcase — but what truly makes the tournament the crown jewel of the Croatian community’s social calendar in Australia is everything that happens off the field.
From opening-night entertainment and live music to the much-loved Ladies’ Lunch and Friday night party, the organisers have pulled out all the stops to ensure there is something for everyone.
The tournament gets underway on Thursday 24 September, with both hosts kicking off what promises to be an action-packed four days of football, entertainment and community spirit.
At Strathmore Split, the opening match is scheduled for 3pm, followed by entertainment from 6pm, featuring the popular Croatian duo Bez Brige.
Meanwhile, St Albans Dinamo will begin the day with its opening ceremony at 12pm, followed by the opening match at 2pm. From 6pm, the entertainment continues with Steven Tivanovac and Abram, giving supporters plenty of reason to stay around long after the final whistle.
It sets the tone for what the tournament is all about: football bringing people together, followed by music, dancing, food, drinks and plenty of catching up with friends from across Australia.
While the men in the crowd are busy tracking the matches and debating early tactics, special attention is being given to the women with the exclusive and immensely popular Ladies’ Luncheon.
This event has blossomed into one of the most beautiful off-field traditions of the entire tournament weekend. Girls, mothers, daughters and friends — all dressed in their finest and most elegant attire — gather in a beautifully decorated venue where everything is tailored especially for them.
Complete with lavish buffet tables, excellent food, selected drinks and pleasant music, it offers the perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy good company and celebrate friendship.
Ladies can look forward to a curated selection of homemade finger foods, an exquisite lunch and live entertainment on Saturday 26 September, from 12pm to 4pm at the Dinamo Clubrooms.
Tickets are $160 per person plus fees and must be purchased in advance via Eventbrite. Photo ID is required for entry and the event is strictly 18+. Numbers are limited, so early booking is recommended.
The Ladies’ Lunch is proudly supported by Vinka Cocktails, Northern Glass Group, Prolac Painting Management, Gospić Bears FC and St Albans Vukovar.
The organisers have also confirmed the return of the Friday Night Party, this year moving to one of Melbourne’s most iconic nightlife venues — Trak Lounge.
After an unforgettable 2024 event, organisers knew they had to take things to the next level. For 2026, guests can expect a big night of live entertainment and DJs across multiple rooms, featuring some of the best talent Melbourne has to offer.
The Main Room will be headlined by MAJOR Minor, one of Melbourne’s best party acts, with DJ sets across the Main Room and Tourney Lounge from DJ Kai Korsano, DJ Abram and DJ MKO.
For those after the ultimate experience, VIP booths will be available, including premium drinks, dedicated VIP service, exclusive seating, a view of the main stage and your own meza plate.
The event is strictly 18+, with photo ID required for entry. Tickets are available via the official tournament social media pages.
While the matches remain at the heart of the Australian-Croatian Tournament, the social programme is an important part of what makes the event so special.
For many supporters, the tournament is as much about reconnecting with old friends, meeting Croatians from other states, sharing a meal, dancing to Croatian music and cheering from the sidelines as it is about what happens on the pitch.
With two Melbourne clubs joining forces as hosts, thousands of supporters expected to attend and a programme packed with football and entertainment, the 52nd tournament promises to be much more than a competition.
It is a celebration of Croatian community, friendship, sport and culture — on and off the field.
The rest of the weekend’s programme is still being finalised.
