What Matthias Jaissle noticed about Sean Steur after Leeds error and why apology was rejected

Newcastle United;s Sean Steur after the defeat to Leeds
Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle says that Sean Steur has already proved to him he is playing like a Premier League star way above his tender years.
The 18-year-old Dutchman made a public apology after his pass was intercepted and led to a Leeds goal in the 4-1 thumping at Elland Road this week. After the game, Steur took to social media to say sorry to fans for his part in the loss, but he recomposed himself and was one of the better players in the second half.
When asked about the apology, Jaissle said: "Not needed at all. He is apologising because he showed up as a young lad.
"I remember there were already games where everyone was celebrating him for his attitude, for his maturity at 18 years and this is exactly the thing where I tell him mistakes can happen, such as a pass which led then afterwards to a goal.
"We can talk also if we could have avoided in the box then probably nobody would speak about it, so he gets the full confidence from my side."

Jaissle also noted Steur's attitude after the mistake and when others went missing in the game, the ex-Ajax star stood strong. Jassile said: "Not a single doubt on him. He has pure quality at such a young age, how he responds.
"He still asks for the balls afterwards, so he's not hiding and this is the right approach.
"Again, from the coaching staff and I'm sure from the fans, he will get the full support."
And with more senior stars like Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Nico Gonzalez set to miss the clash with Hull, Jaissle is not afraid to field a young side. The Toon boss said: "It will be a young midfield. I heard just also from a pundit why I was playing with such young players, as we have only young players in the squad. JJ (Jacob Ramsey) is injured as well.
"So we trust them and this is our approach. As I said that four weeks, five weeks ago, It's a brave journey the club is going to and I'm fully committed in that. So now, if there is one setback, we shouldn't delete our journey or our vision.
"No, we are fully committed. We are fully aligned. We anticipated that, that something like that against Leeds happened, or is happening also in the next weeks and month. Then it's just on us to respond, But still believing, We don't change it."
