Ireland's Conor Wallace faces Ben Whittaker in the biggest fight of his career to date, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for the IBF world light-heavyweight title.

That could lead to a shot at unified champion Dmitry Bivol, who is expected to face Callum Smith in Russia this December. Whittaker's WBC silver belt is also on the line.

Wallace comes into the bout as a huge underdog against the undefeated Andy Lee-trained Whittaker (12-0-1), who has two first round knockouts and one second round KO from three bouts since linking up with the former WBO world middleweight champion and signing with Matchroom Boxing.

The Newry southpaw is based in Australia, having won seven national championships as an amateur. His record stands at 17-1, with 12 of those victories coming by knockout and he has a huge crowd coming to cheer him on in Birmingham.

Wallace's sole pro loss came against Leti Leti in November 2021. He subsequently avenged it, stopping Leti by knockout in their 2022 rematch.

Here's everything you need to know about the bout:

The fight takes place at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Saturday, October 3.

The prelims start at 5pm, with the main card scheduled to start at 7pm. Ring walks for the main event are expected to commence around 10.30pm.

Conor Wallace: "It’s great to have everyone here. There’s nothing like the fighting Irish. But it’s me who is going to be doing the fighting and he [Ben Whittaker] knows that.

"I’ve worked for nights like this my whole life. It’s the biggest test of my career. I know that. But the bigger the fighter, the better I perform.

"I’m coming here to spoil the party. It’s like the fight is in my hometown, not his."

Ben Whittaker: "You know what time it is. I bring the glitz and the glam. It is work time.

"There’s levels to this game. He [Conor Wallace] knows that. He’s happy to be here. I’m meant to be here.

"He’s got a loss on his record, I haven’t. He’s slow as hell. I’m not. I tick every single box, he doesn’t. It’s time now for me to show that.

"My final prediction? Pain."
