Munster looking to mark the 10th anniversary of Anthony Foley's passing with a big European performance
What time and TV channel is Munster vs Racing 92 in the Champions Cup? Stream info, betting odds and more

First year Academy out-half Charlie O’Shea was sitting his Leaving Cert last May and hardly expecting his career to have taken off so quickly.

But he will be wearing the Munster no10 shirt with JJ Hanrahan sitting on the bench on a big day at Pairc Ui Chaoimh where the province's Champions Cup opener is against Racing on the 10th anniversary of Anthony Foley's death in Paris ahead of a game with Racing.

Seán Edogbo gets in at flanker to make for a completely unfamiliar back-row alongside John Hodnett and Alex Kendellen as Jack O'Donoghue and Gavin Coombes are dropped to the bench.

Both O'Shea and Edogbo are making their Champions Cup debuts.

Overall, Clayton McMillan has made six changes to the starting XV that drew in Belfast last weekend as Jack Aungier, Tom Ahern, John Hodnett and Gleeson also start.

Racing are 12th in the Top 14 table after six rounds and were beaten 29-15 at Toulon last week although they fared better the week before thrashing Perpignan 55-25 in Paris.

Who: Munster vs Racing 92

What: European Champions Cup 1st round

Where: Pairc ui Chaoimh, Cork

When: Saturday, October 17th

Current Munster coach and former playing colleague of Axel Foley Denis Leamy: "There's going to be an awful lot of, I suppose, commentary around Axel. We spoke about it in our meetings and just, I suppose, gave everyone an understanding of how important the game is, what it means to everyone and how we do justice to Axel's memory and the Foley family as well. So, a big game, obviously, Racing, a European powerhouse coming to Pairc Ui Chaoimh, so the challenge is always great, but looking forward to it now.

Munster captain Tadhg Beirne: "We have one in our team motto at the moment. We kind of live by some of the words he's spoken every day. He's with us all the time and I don't think it's going to be any different this weekend. We're paying tribute to a true Munster man, as I said, and rightly so..

Craig Casey: "It's probably strange for a lot of young lads with how young the group is, they probably wouldn't have been coached or been in Munster at the same time as Axel, or even in underage groups. I was probably only in sixth year when he died. We have definitely made home a hard place to come because a few times we have been scalped at home and that's not nice. You have got to play well at home."

Munster Head coach Clayton McMillan: “It’s exciting to see young players Seán Edogbo and Charlie O’Shea start on their Champions Cup debuts in another step forward in their development. Max Clein and Ben O’Donovan are two young men who moved up from the Academy to the senior squad in the summer and are named in a Champions Cup squad for the first time and we have every confidence in them if called upon. Marnus van der Merwe, Jack Aungier and Kieran Brookes are seasoned campaigners who have already played at this level. They get to do so with Munster for the first time tomorrow night and we have been really pleased with their contributions since joining in the summer.“
