Giants vs. Rams: The matchup
The Giants delivered an exceptional performance in Week 1 and sent a message to the rest of the NFC East Division by beating the Dallas Cowboys (28-20) on “Sunday Night Football.” Coach John Harbaugh had the Giants ready and sharp for primetime with an offense that racked up 29 first downs, converted 9-of-11 third downs and held the ball for 36:40. Dart connected on 23 of 29 pass attempts for 230 yards and three touchdowns, and he contributed 54 of the team’s 165 yards on the ground. Cam Skattebo thundered his way to 81 yards and a score in his first game since suffering a gruesome ankle injury midway through his 2025 rookie campaign.
The Rams get their first chance to play on American soil in 2026 after falling flat in the NFL’s Melbourne Game in Week 1, where they fell to the San Francisco 49ers (27-7) and drew criticism for their lack of acclimation time to the Australian time zone. Help could be on the way with defensive menace Aaron Donald expected to officially come out of retirement to reinforce the Rams’ D, while Stafford and the Rams offense face early urgency to find their stride. Stafford managed just 155 passing yards and an interception against the Niners and the Rams were outgained 329-290 in the loss.
