Jeremiah Figaro, the No. 139 national prospect in the class of 2027 per 247 Sports, transferred from Malden Catholic to Dexter. He’s from Nashua, N.H., and holds more than 30 offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Miami, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Players can board at certain prep schools, allowing them to live on campus. That attracts players from outside Massachusetts , an experience that is unique to New England.

Landen O’Neil, a Tabor Academy linebacker from Centerville, isn’t on our list but is the top-ranked class of 2028 lacrosse player in the country and recently committed to play for Duke. He still has football offers from Duke, Michigan, and North Carolina.

Neither is Rory Funke, the Dexter Southfield quarterback from Needham, who committed to ACC powerhouse Georgia Tech for baseball. Here are our top football prospects in the state (in alphabetical order).

The top-ranked recruit in the state for the 2027 class, the signal-caller from Hingham threw for 2,241 yards and rushed for 688 last season. Bourque, the 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year for Massachusetts, led the Seawolves to a 9-0 mark and the NEPSAC Class B title. Committed to Virginia Tech, he is ranked as the No. 75 player nationally in the class of 2027 by 247Sports.

When Conlon hits someone, it sounds different. The 6-2, 220-pounder has a nose for the football thanks to his physical and disciplined play. After two seasons at Catholic Memorial, the Mansfield native transferred to Tabor. He holds 17 Power Four offers, including Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee. Conlon is ranked as the No. 178 player nationally in the class of 2027 by 247 Sports.

Running back/safety, 2028, BB&N

DeSalvo turns heads as a two-way athlete. The 5-11, 200-pound DeSalvo is so impactful for coach Mike Wiley and the Knights that he rarely comes off the field. He holds 13 offers, a list that includes Duke, Syracuse, Pitt, and Central Florida.

Offensive lineman, 2028, Dexter

The 6-4, 300-pound offensive lineman from Mansfield erases opponents. He gains leverage with his strong technique and possesses the drive that coaches adore, tenaciously finishing plays. He visited UConn and Pitt prior to the start of the Shields’ 2026 campaign.

Offensive guard, 2027, Tabor

A big presence at right guard, the 6-8, 305-pound Maser is a long and powerful blocker from Duxbury. Tabor coach Jeff Moore lauded Duxbury’s Maser as “super coachable.” He committed to Boston College, choosing to stay near home over 13 other offers.

Defensive line, 2027, Springfield Central

Running back, 2027, Springfield Central

The explosive Rogers converted 126 carries into 986 yards and 15 touchdowns last season for the high-flying Golden Eagles. A top-200 player in the country in the 247 Sports composite, Rogers chose Notre Dame over Indiana, Penn State, and Georgia.

Safety, 2027, Catholic Memorial

It’s hard to miss Tucker — he flies around as a ballhawk and a tenacious tackler. The three-star recruit committed to Boston College, where his brother, Max, is a senior cornerback.

Quarterback, 2028, St. John’s Prep

The 6-5 gunslinger from Lawrence passed for 2,083 yards and 24 TDs with three interceptions last season, and is the first five-star quarterback recruit in state history. The national No. 4 in the class of 2028 per 247 Sports, Vargas is committed to Ohio State.
