“Whole league is tired of this nonsense” – WNBA Fans Explode As Mystics’ Alicia Flórez Mocks Caitlin Clark With Flopping Gesture

Caitlin Clark had another prolific scoring night on Sunday when she dropped 25 points in a 93-77 Indiana Fever loss to the Washington Mystics. In this game, Clark shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Mystics guard Alicia Flórez, however, vehemently disagreed with one particular call. A viral clip from the game shows Flórez doing a flopping gesture to mock Clark after Flórez was called for a defensive foul.

Flórez’s reaction got fans exploding on social media. Some fans agreed with the claim that Clark was embellishing the contact, while others took aim at Flórez for her mockery.

“Whole league is tired of this nonsense. Academy award levels of acting,” one fan tweeted.

It’s worth noting that Flórez has a bone to pick with Clark, and it’s not just because of WNBA competition. Just eight days prior, Flórez was on the Spanish squad that came up short against Clark and the rest of Team USA in the semifinals of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Still, the Mystics guard may have gotten the last laugh on CC this weekend as Washington halted the Fever’s three-game winning streak. More importantly, the loss puts Indiana (27-15) in a precarious spot as they jockey with the Atlanta Dream (28-14) for positioning in the WNBA playoffs.

Caitlin Clark’s creativity on offense was a silver lining in this blowout Fever loss. Unfortunately for Mystics rookie Lauren Betts, she found herself on the receiving end of a heads up play from CC.

In a viral clip from the third quarter, Clark sees Betts with her back turned on a baseline inbounds play. The Fever star proceeds to bounce the ball off Betts’ back; Clark catches it and goes for a quick layup, drawing a foul from Betts in the process.

Clark is just two years ahead of Betts in the WNBA, but the three-time WNBA All-Star got the better of the former UCLA star that time.
