Wigan Warriors youngster earns Wales call-up as Tyler Dupree set to represent USA in autumn internationals

Wigan Warriors youngster Sam Dickenson has been called up by Wales for this autumn’s internationals, while Tyler Dupree is set to represent the USA.

Dickenson has enjoyed an impressive campaign in Wigan’s youth ranks, being part of the unbeaten reserves and academy teams, while being crowned the club’s Academy Player of the Year.

The young fullback has yet to make his debut for Matt Peet’s first-team squad - but has already made his international debut for Wales, having played twice against Ireland last year.

Meanwhile, former Wigan prop Dupree, who is now plying his trade for Castleford Tigers, is set to represent the USA for the first time this autumn.

The 26-year-old has represented the England Knights and the senior England team throughout his professional career so far, but he has switched allegiances after earning a call-up to the USA squad for their upcoming Test against Wales.

Dupree will now get to represent his American heritage, with his uncle Billy Joe Dupree having played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and having won a Super Bowl title during his own professional career.

Tyler’s grandfather, William, who was known as ‘Champion Jack’, was a former boxer in the States who turned into a famous blues musician.

Dupree also made history in 2025 as he scored the first-ever Super League try in America, having scored in Wigan’s win over Warrington Wolves in Las Vegas.

Wales head coach Paul Berry has named a 39-man squad for their autumn international programme, with the group set to be split between the Wales first-team and the Wales A team.

The Welsh will play three matches this autumn, with their Test against the USA on Saturday, October 17 (3pm) at The Wern in Merthyr Tydfil already confirmed.

A curtain-raiser to that game will see Wales A facing a select side that will be known as the ‘Sir Billy Boston Select XIII’ in tribute to rugby league’s first knight.

Meanwhile, USA coach Adam Woolnough has named an 18-man squad for their trip over to Wales this month.

Wales: Toko Owen (Brisbane Broncos), Jackson Connor (Carina Tigers), Sam Grice (Castleford Tigers), Connor Davies, Curtis Davies (both Halifax Panthers), Charlie Newton (Huddersfield Giants), Josh Harding, Will Mathers (both Hull FC), Evan Williams (Hull KR), Ant Walker (Hunslet RLFC), Max Clarke (Keighley Cougars), Finn Walker, Henry Parker (both Leigh Leopards), Jake Nottingham (Lithgow Workies), Ioan Herbert, Jacob Purcell, Jermarie Chatham, Matt Ross, Will Jones (all London Broncos), Owen Restall (Midlands Hurricanes), Taine Woodford (Newcastle Knights), George Birch (Newcastle Thunder), Ashton Robinson, Huw Worthington, Isaac Wheatley (all North Wales Crusaders), Charlie Glover, Fin Yates, Oliver Garmston, Sam Bowring (all Salford RLFC), Billy Walkley (Sheffield Eagles), Alex Green, Llewellyn Hawkes, Lewis Ingram (all WRL Students/Bridgend Blue Bulls), Kavan Phillips, Mason Phillips (both WRL Students/South Wales Jets), Ed Williams (Warrington Wolves), Matty Fozard, Mike Butt (both Widnes Vikings), Sam Dickenson (Wigan Warriors).
