Windsor schools expand admission fees to more sports

WINDSOR, Conn. (WFSB) - The Windsor Public Schools District is boosting admission fees for more sports while it faces budget reductions.

Parents already pay to watch football or basketball games in Windsor. Now several other sports are joining the list, including volleyball, soccer, track and field, and lacrosse.

Admission for adults ranges from $5 to $10 for a single game, depending on the sport. Admission for students usually costs $3.

A season pass ranges from $30 to $60 for adults and $15 to $30 for students, per sport.

The district said increasing admission rates keeps it from boosting pay-to-play fees.

Parents are already paying upward of $100 per athlete.

The school system is managing recent budget reductions, the district said. It also said these changes will help keep its athletic program strong.

The new fees go into effect next Monday.
