Women’s softball world cup

SOFTBALL fans have the chance to witness the world’s best players in action, with tickets now on sale for the 2027 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals at Moreton Bay.
The international tournament will bring eight of the world’s leading softball nations to Kayo Stadium from April 5–10, marking the first major international team event in Queensland on the road to the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
Australia’s Aussie Spirit will face fierce competition from reigning Olympic champions Japan, 12-time world champions USA, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Puerto Rico and China.
The tournament will also serve as the first qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The Italian-crafted, 24-carat gold-plated World Cup trophy was unveiled at Kayo Stadium on October 8, marking its return to Australia for the first time in more than 60 years.
Tourism and Events Moreton Bay CEO Luke Edwards said the event would attract international athletes, officials, media and supporters, delivering significant economic benefits.
“Bringing a World Cup to Moreton Bay is a major moment for our region, and we can’t wait to welcome the players, their teams and their supporters next April,” Mr Edwards said.
“Major events like this are one of the most powerful drivers of visitation.”
More than $3.65 million is expected to flow into Queensland’s economy.
Mr Edwards said organisers wanted visitors to explore the region beyond the stadium, including its coastline, islands and hinterland.
Kayo Stadium, normally home to NRL matches, will be transformed into a purpose-built international softball diamond for the six-day championship.
Tickets are available at softballworldcup2027.com.
