Wyoming soccer blanks Colorado State in Border War

University of Wyoming women’s soccer stopped Colorado State, 1-0, in Thursday night’s Border War in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The Cowgirls extended their winning streak to five and earned their first Border War win since 2022.
UW (7-2 overall) also matched its win total from a season ago and are a goal shy of its total scoring production from 2025.
Senior defender Lauren Westwood opened the scoring in the 18th minute — her first goal as a Cowgirl and second in a four-year career that started at St. Bonaventure. Maddie Burr — who hails from Fort Collins — assisted.
UW goalkeeper Haley Bartel collected six saves and extended her career shutout record to 23 matches.
The Cowgirls owned a 9-7 advantage with shots on goal, though the Rams outshot UW in total, 19-15.
Isabel Vasco and Reese Gould led the Cowgirls with two shots on goal apiece.
Laramie High grad Ava Wallhead, who leads CSU (1-6-1) on the season with two goals, played 53 minutes.
CSU’s Addison Huber received a yellow card in the 89th minute for unsporting conduct.
The Cowgirls open Mountain West play when they visit Nevada at 7 p.m. next Thursday.
