The Athletic | Chris Kirschner: The Yankees haven’t won the World Series since 2009. They only time they’ve even reached it since then was the near-sweep in 2024—two years ago—but the 2025 and 2026 campaigns brought early postseason exits with them. Kirschner details 10 specific steps the Bombers need to take to return to the Fall Classic in 2027.
We won’t be giving it all away because it’s a very worthwhile read, but some of the recommendations include extending David Bednar a qualifying offer, trying Luis García Jr. in other infield positions, and bringing in a right-handed-hitting catcher. Oh, and also acquiring a certain Cleveland Guardians outfielder: Steven Kwan.
SNY | Phillip Martínez: Speaking of players the Yankees should trade for this offseason, Martínez offered a list of five, with the respective reasoning for each one of them. There’s a little bit of everything: established stars, veterans past their primes but with a chance to contribute, power guys, and more. The five listed options are all position players.
MLB.com | Brendan Samson: Yankees infield prospect Dax Kilby was one of the best players of the past week in the Arizona Fall League. He played four games in Week 3 of the AFL and went 7-for-18 with four runs, two doubles, a triple, a homer, a couple of RBI, and three stolen bases.
The homer was his second of the 2026 AFL campaign and it left his bat at 107.1 mph, traveling 419 feet. The 19-year-old middle infielder has hit a robust .311/.353/.622 through 11 contests for Salt River so far. As an aside, be sure to check out my colleague Michael’s weekly recaps of Yankees prospect AFL action!
