Rays won't ease up on basepaths after losing Game 1 World Series - ESPN

MILWAUKEE — The Tampa Bay Rays' brand of baseball, an aggressive style designed to apply constant pressure on opponents, backfired Friday in Game 1 of the World Series with two costly baserunning miscues in a 3-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. But they don't plan on changing the approach that landed them in the World Series for the third time in franchise history. «That's us,» Rays left fielder Chandler Simpson said. «We can't run away from that because that's who we are. Just because we got stopped a couple of times on the basepaths, we can't shy away from that. Not now, at the end. We just got to continue to go forward. Be smart, be conscious of it, and just learn from it going forward.» The first blunder happened in the fifth inning when Victor Mesa Jr., who had reached base with a leadoff single against Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski, attempted to steal third base with two outs and Yandy Diaz at the plate.

How the news of ForBets works

Where the stories come from, how your feed is made and how to get an alert, with the terms of the news pages.

The stories are collected from the news sources of the sports we cover, and each one says where it comes from. For some of them only the opening and a link to the original are shown: the full text is read on the site of the publisher, who owns it.

News has three tabs. Your feed shows the stories of the sports you follow, Discover shows every sport, and Saved holds the stories you kept to read later. You can search by headline or topic, narrow the list to one sport, and mark everything as read.

Yes. In your account, under Sports & alerts, choose the sports you follow and how you want to hear about each one: in the app, by push or by email. The bell in the header collects the new stories of your sports and the new picks of the analysts you follow.

News is for reading and does not recommend bets. For picks, open the list of matches and compare the analysts by their records. The two are kept apart on purpose: a story is a report, and a pick is an opinion that its author answers for.
