A handful of fans but $350K in bets: low stakes cricket match exposes new threat to Australian sport | Jack Snape

Millions of dollars are being wagered via largely unregulated overseas sports prediction platforms, prompting legal experts and law enforcement to meet this week in Melbourne A few dozen spectators at the Blacktown International Sportspark on Monday watched the ACT Meteors’ women’s side battle valiantly against the Hobart Hurricanes in the T20 Spring Challenge, a modest precursor to what will be a busy summer of women’s cricket. How the news of ForBets works

Where the stories come from, how your feed is made and how to get an alert, with the terms of the news pages.

The stories are collected from the news sources of the sports we cover, and each one says where it comes from. For some of them only the opening and a link to the original are shown: the full text is read on the site of the publisher, who owns it.

News has three tabs. Your feed shows the stories of the sports you follow, Discover shows every sport, and Saved holds the stories you kept to read later. You can search by headline or topic, narrow the list to one sport, and mark everything as read.

Yes. In your account, under Sports & alerts, choose the sports you follow and how you want to hear about each one: in the app, by push or by email. The bell in the header collects the new stories of your sports and the new picks of the analysts you follow.

News is for reading and does not recommend bets. For picks, open the list of matches and compare the analysts by their records. The two are kept apart on purpose: a story is a report, and a pick is an opinion that its author answers for.
