‘Already a Disaster,’ ‘Poor Steph (Curry)’ — NBA World Sounds Alarm As Warriors HC Steve Kerr Reveals He ‘Hasn’t Seen’ Kristaps Porziņģis During Preseason

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr delivered a concerning update regarding center Kristaps Porziņģis, revealing that he has not seen the Latvian as the team works through its preseason schedule.

Kerr’s comments prompted several alarmed reactions about the state of the Warriors heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.

The upcoming campaign already looked bleak for the Warriors entering the preseason. Once again, they did not make a splash in the offseason, failing to secure extra star power and top-tier depth to become title contenders. Meanwhile, multiple players expected to be key contributors are entering the season with injuries and health setbacks.

Porziņģis is among these players, as he’s expected to be out indefinitely due to an undisclosed health concern. Knowing he’ll be sidelined for an unknown period is already alarming.

Apprehension toward the situation was further exacerbated following an update from Kerr. Ahead of Tuesday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the veteran coach revealed that he had yet to see the ailing big man.

“I haven’t seen him yet, but we didn’t have practice yesterday, and I just got here a little while ago,” Kerr shared.

When asked if Porziņģis was in the Bay Area, Kerr also seemed unsure.

“I think so,” Kerr replied. “I think he’ll be around now, but I haven’t seen him yet.”

The statement regarding the one-time All-Star drew concern across social media.

“This is already a disaster. Warriors gonna start the year with ~$90M worth of players unavailable while relying on a 38-year-old [Stephen] Curry to carry them. What could possibly go wrong?” one X user posted.

“Yeah, it’s totally over for KP 😒😒😒,” another conceded.

“I just act like he’s not even [on] the team. What’s the point?” one commenter added.

“People had the audacity to say we won the trade back in February. Love the idea of Porziņģis, and I hoped he would be able to get healthier at some point because the man has seen better days, but this ain’t it whatsoever,” another chimed in.

“Yeah, please get Porziņģis off my basketball team immediately,” a fan account reacted.

Others were primarily concerned about Curry and how the twilight of his career is playing out.

“The way they are absolutely mismanaging the final years of Steph’s career is an absolute joke,” one user said.

“I didn’t have 1 single positive interaction with Warriors content in the last 4 years. One of the worst run organizations in pro sports, poor Steph man 🤦‍♂️,” another posted.

Porziņģis was limited to only 32 games last season. He played 17 outings with the Atlanta Hawks, and another 15 after being traded to the Warriors. Health concerns fueled his prolonged absences, and there’s no telling when he’ll be back to full strength.

Aside from Porziņģis, six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler is also expected to miss a significant amount of time. He is still recovering from the torn right ACL he sustained in January and will not be available at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.

The rest of the Warriors’ core is mostly made up of aging stars, headlined by the 38-year-old Curry. While he’s still one of the most potent offensive machines in the league, health has also been a concern. Last season, he was limited to only 43 games due to various injuries.

His running mate, 36-year-old Draymond Green, remains one of the league’s staunchest defenders. However, he won’t be able to propel the team offensively the same way Curry or even Butler can.

At the center position, the team is expected to rely on Al Horford. The 40-year-old big man was a five-time All-Star but is far removed from those days. With the mileage he’s logged, availability is also an issue, as he suited up in only 45 contests last season.

Overall, Porziņģis’ health issues aren’t the only concern for the Warriors. Considering how the team looks now, fans might be wondering whether Curry will even sniff a chance at reaching the postseason toward the end of his legendary career.
