Chicago Bears: Kyler Gordon makes NFL history with feat that dates back to 1982

If you didn’t buy into the Kyler Gordon hype, you may need to now.
The Chicago Bears traveled to Atlanta today and left with an impressive 31-23 victory. They welcomed back multiple starters, including QB Caleb Williams and DB Kyler Gordon. Williams played incredibly, going 30-for-36 and throwing for 306 yards and one touchdown.
Gordon, whom many thought might not play all season, had one of the best games of his career. He recorded three sacks and two forced fumbles, and he was all over the field in his season debut.
Remarkably, this was a record-setting day for Gordon. He tied the record for most individual sacks by a DB, dating all the way back to 1982.
Bears DB Kyler Gordon has 3.0 sacks today against the Falcons, tied for the most in a game by any DB since individual sacks have been recorded in 1982.
Some of the Bears fanbase were completely out on Gordon. He’s failed to stay on the field at times, but it’s obvious that when he does play, his impact is huge. If it weren’t for his multiple forced fumbles, this game could’ve turned out much differently.

The opinions on Kyler Gordon over the past few months have been very up-and-down. Many fans thought his desire to play was in question, as he was rehabbing away from the team for the majority of the preseason.
With the Bears’ secondary being shaky over the past few weeks, the return of Gordon is a massive one. The hope is that his play will radiate amongst the rest of the cornerbacks. Jaylon Johnson has clearly regressed and looked pretty rough in certain spots today.
Kyler Gordon made an ABSURD season debut after returning from injury.

Gordon capped it off with a late strip sack to shut down Atlanta’s comeback attempt.
Gordon may need to help on the outside if Johnson continues to struggle. Tyrique Stevenson has also been dealing with injury, but hasn’t been very productive when he’s been on the field either.
With the trade deadline approaching, look for the Bears to be active, especially if they keep winning. Johnson’s spot isn’t safe, as the team has been linked to pass-rushing help or another defensive tackle to help bolster the line.
