Colston Loveland sounds off on chemistry with Bears QB Caleb Williams

Colston Loveland took the NFL by storm in his rookie season. He formed a strong bond with Caleb Williams on and off the field, and their connection was key to the Chicago Bears’ 2025 success. The tight end recently spoke about their chemistry.
Loveland finished last season with 58 receptions for 713 yards and six touchdowns. His emergence resulted to more snaps played as the campaign progressed and entered this year as Chicago’s TE1. However, he started slow in the first three weeks but has since picked up where he left off last season.
The former Michigan Wolverines star had his best game in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He recorded six receptions on nine targets for 57 yards. While it’s still subpar compared to his performances last year, it’s still a huge step to regaining his old form.
Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland (84) scores a touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers.
Former NFL running back Mark Ingram II asked Loveland how he became one of Williams’ favorite targets despite being a rookie. He highlighted the hard work he put in, helping him live up to expectations.
“I would say come in early, be the last guy out, and show my teammates and my coaches that I can be the guy,” Loveland said. “And I think that Caleb and I just have to practice, get an extra rep, really working on that. I think that definitely paid off.”
Williams has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury. However, he could reportedly return to practice this week and play as soon as on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. His connection with Loveland will be crucial as the Bears look to bounce back strong after their 31-7 Week 5 defeat to their rivals, the Green Bay Packers. They 3-2 this season and tied with the Packers and Detroit Lions in the NFC North, all trailing the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings.
