David Benavídez will close the year with a fight of unification
American boxer David Benavídez will play a unification fight within the cruise weight division against Polish champion Michal Cieslak on December 5.
The official confirmation of the confrontation was made known through an announcement issued on the digital platforms of broadcasting company DAZN, fixing the date for the dispute of three of the four main cats of the category.
In this official commitment, David Benavídez will put in play the faces of the World Boxing Association (AMB) and the World Boxing Organization (OMB). For his part, Michal Cieslak will enter the contest holding the belt of the World Boxing Council (CMB), while the crown of the International Boxing Federation (FIB) remains vacant in the division.
With a professional record of 32 victories without defeat and 26 triumphs on the nocaut path, the 29-year-old pugilist from Phoenix, Arizona, arrives at this meeting after having obtained the unified championship on May 2, when he defeated nocaut in the sixth assault to Mexican Gilberto Ramírez. That result allowed David Benavídez to consolidate his condition of world champion in three different categories within the professional terrain.
For his part, the 37-year-old European opponent records a record of 28 victories, two losses and 22 nocauts. Cieslak obtained the interim band of the CMB in June 2025 by arresting in four episodes the Canadian Jean Pascal, being elevated to the condition of absolute monarch on September 14th by administrative decision of the sanctioning body.
This elevation of the Polish fighter occurred after the dismissal of former champion Noel Mikaelian, to whom the entity withdrew the regulatory title after declining the official order to face David Benavídez. Instead, Mikaelian opted to measure against Jai Opetaia on September 12, a strike in which he fell defeated in the ninth assault.
