Miel Fajardo and stablemate Zyvyr Medecilo expressed confidence that they will get the job done and bring back two world title belts from Japan next month.

Facing the media on Tuesday at a Makati hotel, Fajardo and Medecilo, accompanied by their Hong Kong chief handler and RCT Promotions head Lennon Tsoi, swore that they are going the extra mile in their respective bids on 26 November in Tokyo.

Fajardo challenges Masamichi Yabuki for the International Boxing Federation flyweight crown while Medecilo battles Takeshi Ishii for the World Boxing Association minimumweight title.

The 4,100-seater Ebara Wave Arena in Ota district will play host to the double world championship match.

“I am determined to win this one for my family and for myself,” said Fajardo, the mandatory challenger from San Francisco in Agusan del Sur.

Medecilo, who was handpicked by Ohashi Promotions, echoed the same sentiment, adding that it has always a dream of his to wear a world title strap.

“Not every boxer gets this opportunity and I am doing my best to make sure that when I answer the bell, I would be in top shape,” said the native of Koronadal, South Cotabato.

Tsoi, joined on the head table by the trainers of the two fighters — Ericxon and Jericho Asilo — is also upbeat about taking the IBF and WBA titles away.

“We are very confident about them. They can certainly do it,” said Tsoi, who credited American Sean Gibbons and Cucuy Elorde for their respective roles in the twin title tries.

“The odds are stacked against them but I feel good about this,” added Tsoi, who is also being supported by the Games and Amusements Board in the bold bid to unseat two Japanese champions on hostile ground.

Dignitaries from Hong Kong also flew in to attend the presser, including the former British colony’s top fighter, Rex Tso.
