‘It Could Definitely Get Dark,’ ‘Things Will Change’ — Eagles Legend Donovan McNabb Panicking Just a Little Over Philly’s Derailed Season

After four straight losses, the Philadelphia Eagles have fallen to 2-4, and with quarterback Jalen Hurts expected to miss the rest of the season with an injury, the team could be in trouble. Former franchise quarterback Donovan McNabb sees the concerns, too.
McNabb still believes the Eagles can turn things around. But with the trade deadline approaching and division games ahead, Philadelphia is running out of time to get its season back on track.
During a discussion with Thomas Mott and Zach Berman on “Eagles Collective,” McNabb acknowledged the danger facing a team whose season has taken a sharp turn.
“Oh, it could definitely get dark as we get closer to the trade deadlines at this particular point,” McNabb said. “But the next four weeks are very important.”
The discussion then turned to how a prolonged losing streak can affect a locker room. Berman suggested players could start worrying about coaching changes and trades if the Eagles continue to struggle. McNabb acknowledged that risk but noted Philadelphia still has a chance to compete for the division title.
“The good thing about it, as bad as it may sound, is we’re still competing for the top spot in the NFC East because every NFC East team right now is struggling,” McNabb said.
Philadelphia is coming off a 25-14 home loss to the Carolina Panthers, with three straight NFC East matchups ahead. The stretch begins Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, who also enter Week 7 at 2-4. The game gives the Eagles a chance to gain ground on a division rival.

Still, Philadelphia has plenty to fix. With Hurts on injured reserve, Tanner McKee is now leading an offense that struggled against Carolina in his first start of the season.
Entering the Dallas matchup, the Eagles rank No. 30 in the league with a PFN Offense Impact Score of 66.2. They are averaging 17.7 points per game and 4.4 yards per play, numbers that show how much work remains if Philadelphia hopes to get back on track.
Despite his concerns, McNabb remains confident that Philadelphia can recover. He believes the team’s experience gives it a chance to weather the rough stretch and start winning again.
“I just think things will change because this team has experience of being on that other side and knows what it took to get there,” McNabb said.

Earlier in the conversation, McNabb explained that the players still had reason to believe in themselves despite the recent results. He pointed to injuries that forced others to step up and suggested that some of the frustration stemmed from players falling short of their own standards. Fixing those individual mistakes, he argued, could help the team regain its footing.
“This isn’t anything new. Obviously, there are more challenges now due to injury. So now, it calls for some guys to elevate their game,” said the former QB.
McNabb’s confidence in Philadelphia also follows his recent defense of Hurts amid criticism of the Eagles’ offense. While he has pushed back against the growing pessimism surrounding the team, he knows Philadelphia needs to start winning again.
The Eagles now have an immediate chance to change the narrative. Monday night’s game against Dallas begins a stretch of division matchups that could help Philadelphia climb back into contention. A win would also snap its four-game losing streak.
