The Detroit Pistons were the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference last season, and Jalen Duren was a huge part of the team's success.

The former No. 13 overall pick made his first All-Star team and was also named All-NBA third team in 2026. That meant a big payday was in order for the restricted free agent.

The two sides have been engaged in a standoff for months, but ESPN's Shams Charania has some great news for Pistons fans Thursday night.

Charania shared breaking news that the Pistons and Duren agreed on a five-year, $200 million extension.

BREAKING: All-NBA and All-Star center Jalen Duren has agreed to sign a five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed contract to return to the Detroit Pistons, agent Chafie Fields of THE•TEAM tells ESPN. This ends a prolonged restricted free agency dispute between the two sides.

This is massive news for a Pistons team looking to keep its core together following a second-round playoff exit this past May. Duren's deal is also fully guaranteed, likely helping the two sides come to this long-awaited agreement.

Charania shared another post explaining how this $200 million offer has been on the table for two weeks. Duren skipped media day and the start of training camp, but he decided to take the massive sum of money and stay in Detroit.

This keeps Duren alongside Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson as the trio aims to chase a title for a Pistons team that has successfully built through the NBA Draft. Losing Duren would have been a massive blow to a team that just won a playoff series for the first time since 2008.

Taking a guaranteed $200 million may have ultimately been too good of a deal to pass up regardless of any existing beef between the player and the organization.
