‘Leave a taste’ – Angel Reese gets real on historic 30-point performance for Dream

Angel Reese had a stunning performance in her first game back for the Atlanta Dream after the Team USA run.
Angel Reese is back in the WNBA after her time with Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, winning a gold medal in the process.
Reese has improved her skills, which was evident during the Atlanta Dream’s recent game against the Connecticut Sun.
The Dream secured a dominant 103-59 win over the Sun, with Reese going off for 30 points and 10 rebounds, making it her 30th double-double of the season.
Reese now holds the record for most double-doubles in a single WNBA season. Previously, Alyssa Thomas held the record with 28 double-doubles in the 2023 season.
Additionally, Reese now also holds the record for playing the fewest minutes while recording a 30-point, 10-rebound game, as she played in just 25 minutes against the Sun.
Following a historic night, Reese had a stern message for her critics during the postgame interview.
“I was ready to get back. Being back home, being with Atlanta, being with my team. I mean, I enjoy getting a gold medal at USA and enjoying my time there, but this is home,” Reese said, per ESPNW.
She added, “I gotta leave a taste in everybody about what the playoffs are gonna look like, so it was only right for me to come out and set the tone.”
The Dream have now improved to a 27-14 record for the season as they currently hold the fourth spot in the WNBA standings.
