Arsenal put the shock of their EFL Cup exit to League Two Fleetwood behind them with a 1-0 win at Liverpool on Sunday, when Mikel Arteta's side once again impressed with their efficiency.

They head to the Czech Republic for their latest Champions League assignment against Slavia Prague, who are already seven points clear in their domestic league but rarely transfer that dominance to the European stage.

The Swedish striker could relish a rare chance after scoring in the EFL Cup loss to Fleetwood and in four games for his country in the latest international break.

The Slavia midfielder has picked up three domestic bookings this season and averages almost two fouls a game, so he could do well to escape another yellow card.

The opportunity to shoot is rarely passed up by the former Newcastle midfielder, who had five efforts on goal in the 3-0 win over Lille.

The chant of "one-nil to the Arsenal" is getting familiar under Mikel Arteta and their latest win by that scoreline at Liverpool on Sunday could become a key moment of the season even though we are only nine games into the Premier League campaign.

It was the perfect answer to their EFL Cup exit to League Two side Fleetwood, something that may become viewed as a blessing in their quest for a first Champions League triumph, which continues with a trip to Slavia Prague this week.

Going back to the top of the Premier League following Manchester City's 1-0 defeat to Brighton was the most notable consequence, but their Anfield triumph was a defensive masterclass as they prevented the Reds mustering a shot on target.

If they can do that against a team who have spent as much on their forward line in the last couple of seasons as the Merseysiders, then what hope do Slavia have?

Probably not much. That shutout was the Gunners' ninth in their 15 games of the current campaign and it is possible that Arteta will go strong again with his team selection after his second string fluffed their lines last week.

Slavia have a seven-point lead in the Czech First League but they have not won any of their last 18 games in European matches.

They have lost to Lens and to new boys Sabah, while they needed an injury-time goal to earn a 2-2 draw with Fenerbahce, a team Aston Villa beat 6-0.

It is difficult to see them breaking through the Arsenal defence and, after wins over Lille and Napoli and a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich, this should not be another occasion when the Gunners let their backers down at a short price.

Viktor Gyokeres has not been able to replicate his goalscoring exploits for Sporting since joining Arsenal when he was hailed as the answer to their central-striking issues.

However, he can usually be relied on to step up if Arteta gives some of his fringe players the opportunity to shine again.

After a goal against Fleetwood and a successful last international break for Sweden when he scored in four games, he can make his mark against a team who appear to be inferior opponents.
