UPDATED LIST: Best basketball courts that ball-is-lifers can book

PICKLEBALL, golf, and Hyrox – these are some of the trendy sports activities these days for people who can pay to break a sweat.

But for most young professionals to middle-aged family men, nothing still compares to playing basketball after work or in the weekends in this hoops-crazy country.

So we’ve compiled a list of the some of the best new basketball courts for rent in Metro Manila, complete with addresses, social media pages, and rates.

If you want details about the older popular courts, check out the Top 5 list we wrote in 2019.

For now, this is our new Top 10 list for ball-is-lifers:

If a PBA champion team like TNT has made the venue its home practice facility, then you know it’s a quality basketball court.

Feel like a professional player when you’re stepping foot on its shiny wooden floors that will definitely make your brand-new sneakers squeak.

It also has everything around the court.

“May access to showers, may cafe resto, gym, spacious, and comfy pag may mga kasama ka manood sa 'yo,” said Paolo Cusi, a 35-year-old sneakerhead who works for an ad agency by day and plays hoops at night – whenever he gets permission from his wife and two kids.

Mandaluyong is a hotbed of quality basketball courts for rent and just when you thought there are already enough courts in the city, Activate, like Gameville, is quickly joining the ranks among them.

Pro and international invitational teams have used the court as practice facility.

“May parking lot, ganda location – dami katabi na kainan para for after basketball,” Cusi said.

You know it’s worthy to play in when Gilas Pilipinas' team to the last Asian Games as well as UAAP champion La Salle have used the court in the past as practice venues.

Co-founded by veteran coach Cholo Villanueva in April, what sets the court apart is its safety feature to solve the common issue of moisture-slicked courts during the country’s rainy season.

“Perfect for tito papawis gaming lalo na doon sa mga mahilig sa shoes na ayaw magasgasan. Gusto sa tabla lang i-apak,” Cusi said.

This is one of the few state-of-the-art gyms in the south of Manila – perfect for southies who don’t have to go to faraway north just to play pickup basketball.

Homegrown pro league NBL-Pilipinas has held a couple of playdates in this Las Piñas-based hall featuring a Fiba-sized court.

“Lumaki kasi tayo sa semento na courts, kaya iba pa rin feeling every time makalaro ka sa tabla. Fulfilling lalo na sa mga pangarap na lang mag-collegiate or mga pro,” Cusi said.

This is one of the newest courts for rent in the Metro, although the most expensive in the list for its introductory price.

Like the SM Southmall court, this is located inside a mall for shopping and other activities before or after playing.

“Mall access, parking lot, hindi mainit, and shower access,” Cusi said.

Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8qJb7jTMQcMGrWBF7Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CitiArenaPhBasketball rates: From P1,400 to P2,300

This is the most affordable in the list.

And if you’re based in Manila and want to revive your hoop dreams under the spotlight even for a night, then this is the court for you.

Just ask former Jose Rizal University Light Bomber and current World Citi Colleges assistant coach and panalay high-flyer JC Mañgio.

“Makapit court at maganda ilaw para mag-take ng in-game shots,” the 25-year-old wingman said.

The name known for boxing continues to venture in the sport closest to Pinoys' hearts.

Launched just last July at the Elorde Sports Center compound in Parañaque, the Court of Champions has given weeknight ballers and weekend warriors a warm welcome.

“Yung gusto ko sa kanya is meron small reception area na unlike sa other courts for rent,” hoop junkie Jethro Andaya said. “Malaki yung space para sa bench ng players and audience if may kasama ka.”

“Maganda din yung pagkagawa sa hardwood court kasi walang hollow spots kaya walang dead dribbles. And higit sa lahat kahit enclosed siya eh maayos ventilation kaya hindi mahirap huminga at maaliwalas kahit hindi bukas ang aircon,” he added.

Opened in late 2024, this court has a great location in Pasay, near the corner of Edsa and Roxas boulevard.

Like all versatile courts on the list, it also offers indoor setups for volleyball, pickleball, and badminton, apart from basketball.

“It has spacious parking, good ventilation, shower access, and cafe restos nearby,” Cusi said.

It’s also one of the newest quality courts for rent in the metro, established just in August at the heart of Makati city.

While featuring professional-grade basketball/volleyball surfaces, it has also gone with the trend with dedicated pickleball courts.

“It has shower access, a cafe, and good ventilation,” Cusi said.

This is not exactly for rent, but members can use the court anytime in what is dubbed as the most advanced basketball training facility in the world.

The highlight of the gym is the shooting station the features a rebounding and passing machine that allows you to get your shot reps as many as you want.

And analyze your every shot real-time through the Splash Meter, the advanced tech that uses motion-tracking cameras and shown on the screen on top of the basketball ring and monitors the arc, depth, and left/right alignment.

“I don’t think there’s any other gym that you can go to and get up 300 to 400 shots in 30 minutes – and also work on your ballhandling skills, and get personal training as well with great coaches,” former NBA star and Shoot 360 ambassador Rodney Stuckey said.

Honorable mention outside NCR:

Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qXDykbiBLiypLeUy9Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MelmacSportsManagementBasketball rates: P1,200 per hour for 3x3 court; P2,500 per hour for 5-on-5 court

For those looking for a quality basketball court just outside the metro, this is the court to go.

Founded by longtime 3x3 basketball advocate Mel Macasaquit, the multi-sport facility in Imus, Cavite features a dedicated 3x3 basketball court that passes Fiba standards.
